About  Msgr. Tony

All of my assignments as a priest have been great experiences for me. As always, there have been ups and downs, but through prayer and grace, priesthood is a gift that I
cherish deeply.

I want to express my thanks to the Archbishop and to Father Todd for allowing me to be on the pastoral staff at Christ the King. As I told some people, I am a “re-tread” here. This was my first assignment from 1985 to 1990 as a new priest with Msgr. Sweeney, who taught me how to be a good parish priest. Much to my surprise, I became pastor of Christ the King from 2004 until 2010. Following Msgr. Tuohy was an honor that I tried to live up to. He was such a wise priest. I did my best to learn from him.

As I return to Christ the King, I do so prayerfully and with great memories of the past. I remember so many of you who have always been so kind to me. There are also many new people, and I look forward to getting to know you. To all, be assured of my prayers. I hope that my priestly life will help you in your pilgrimage of faith.

Here is some background information. I was born in Huron, South Dakota, but most of my life has been spent here in Indianapolis. I have one brother, Tom. He and his wife Sheri currently live in Florida. Their daughter Megan and her husband Marcus live in Minnesota. We are a small but happy family.

I graduated from Immacutlate Heart of Mary in 1971. I went to Bishop Chatard Hight School, and was in the class of 1975. I graduated from Butler University in 1979. My seminary education was at Saint Meinrad. I was in the class of 1985.

I enjoy sports but was never a good athlete. I love the Indianapolis 500 and am a fan of the Colts and the Pacers.

I want to thank all of you for welcoming me back to Christ the King.

Be assured of my many prayers.

Peace,

Msgr. Tony Volz
